Awards honor excellence in the commercial real estate industry.

The NAIOP Commercial Real Estate Development Association Northeast Florida Chapter presented its 2017 awards Thursday night to honor excellence in the commercial real estate industry. The event was held at the Jessie Ball duPont Center Downtown. The winners include:
Developer/Owner of the Year: VanTrust Real Estate LLC, Marc Munago
Office Broker of the Year: Scott Henley, Newmark Phoenix Realty Group
Industrial Broker of the Year: Tyler Newman, Cushman & Wakefield
Office Lease/Sale of the Year: One Call, Eight Forty One at 841 Prudential Drive, NAI Hallmark, Keith Goldfaden, Daniel Burkhardt and Patrick Thornton
Industrial Lease/Sale of the Year: UPS, JLL, Luke Pope
Construction Project less than $10 million: Cowford Chophouse in Downtown Jacksonville, Danis, Gordy Steadman
Construction Project more than $10 million: Rayonier headquarters in Wildlight, Danis, Gordy Steadman
Developing Leader of the Year: Daniel Burkhardt, NAI Hallmark
Lifetime Achievement Award: Heyward Cantrell, president of Cantrell Real Estate Inc. and a 50-year veteran of commercial development. The award recognizes a person who has distinguished himself or herself for outstanding achievement and professionalism in the office and/or industrial real estate industry.
The Jesse B. Smith Community Service Award: Joseph Whitaker, a project manager for business retention with the city Office of Economic Development. Jesse Smith, who died in 1996, served as an economic development leader during three mayoral administrations.
The Klechak Award: Mayor Lenny Curry. The Klechak Award is given by the Downtown Investment Authority in recognition of public service to Downtown Jacksonville. The award is named in honor of former Downtown Development Authority Chairman Lew Klechak.
